IPL 2022: David Warner cherishes his friendship with former teammates Rashid Khan, Kane Williamson
IPL 2022: The friendship between Kane Williamson, David Warner, and Rashid Khan, who played for the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL) together for years, remains strong even after they parted ways.
DC opener David Warner took to Instagram on Thursday to post a photo with current SRH skipper Kane Williamson after making a statement against his old side with an unbeaten 92 that helped Delhi Capitals defeat Sunrisers Hyderabad by 21 runs.
With two of the sport’s all-time greats posing for a photo and enjoying a reunion of sorts, it wasn’t long before an up-and-comer in the form of spinner Rashid Khan joined the reunion as well.
In the IPL 2022 auction, Warner was selected by Delhi Capitals
In the 2022 IPL auction, Warner was selected by Delhi Capitals, a franchise he represented from 2009 to 2013, for Rs 6.25 crore. From 2014 to 21, he represented SRH.
Warner is currently having a tremendous season with the Washington Capitals. He has 356 runs scored in 8 innings for an average of 59.33 and a highest score of 92*. This season, he has four half-centuries for DC.
Rashid Khan was a key member of the Men in Orange as a spinner from 2017 to 21, representing the franchise. For the franchise, he took 91 wickets. Gujarat Titans eventually selected him for Rs 15 crore. Getting Khan has paid off handsomely for GT, as he has 11 wickets for the franchise. At an average of over 27 and a low economy rate of 6.84 so far. The 23-year-old has also demonstrated his bat-skills, scoring 40 against CSK and 31* against SRH to help his team win matches.
Finally, Kane Williamson has remained committed to SRH. With 10 points, SRH is presently sixth in the points table under his captaincy. Captain Kane, on the other hand, has had a poor start to the season with the bat. In ten innings, he has a 22.11 batting average and has scored 199 runs. Only one half-century has come from his bat, with his best score being 57. His strike rate of 96.13 is also below the format’s expectations.
